Yelagiri is a beautiful place in southern India and is located among the hills on all sides of it. Its a beautiful hill station with pleasing environment and fine climate and the place is fabulously wonderful in the winters. Highly populated with tribals who are chiefly engaged in forestry, agriculture and horticulture along with all other occupations undertaken by the rural people.

Yelagiri is a wonderful hilly terrain which is the home of a number of tribal families. Meandering roads, green valleys and the chill in the air tells the tourists that they have arrived to Yelagiri.If you are searching for a place engulfed in silence and peace then Yelagiri in Tamil Nadu perfectly suits your choice, providing you cool and calm atmosphere all year round. Yelagiri is actually a cluster of small villages, spread around hills. There are many tourist attractions here like a beautiful and charming lake, Mughal Garden around the lake, Velavan Temple and a children's park. This hillstation is 34 hours drive from Chennai or Bangalore and is at a height of 920m above sea level. It is one of the quieter hill destinations of Tamil Nadu and is surrounded by orchards, rosegardens and green valleys. The uphill drive, with 14 hairpin bends, takes you through some spectacular scenery. Yelagiri is basically a cluster of villages surrounded by four hills. The main settlements are at Athnavur and Nilavur. A peaceful and unexplored area, the destination has not been commercialised, and offers you a picturesque and unpolluted ambience.
