Rooms and Amenities

Affordable elegance in relaxed surroundings

At the Retreat you will find graciously-appointed rooms, attached baths and plenty of outside gardens in which to relax and enjoy your time in Yelagiri. The hosts continually provide a comfortable and welcoming hospitality at this Retreat, consisting of the Stepping stone inn, River View Cottage and Nayantra.

Stepping stone inn

The inn has on the ground floor a large bedroom with two double beds and one room with two single beds. The attached toilets have a geyser. The floor is furnished with a television, a kitchenette and a fridge.

The first floor has one double bedroom and another room with two single cots, attached bath with geyser, a balcony overlooking the garden and a television in the room.

River View Cottage

The cottage consists of three double bedrooms of which one is on the ground floor. Each room is spacious enough to include an extra bed. The attached toilets have geysers and television in the room. The first floor has a balcony overlooking the waterfront. Spacious enough to accommodate 15 people, the balcony has a bar counter and wash.

Nayantra Cottage

The cottage consists of two double bedrooms with bath attached, a living room, television, kitchenette and refrigerator. It also has a spacious sit out in front of the cottage.

Apart from these cottages, we have two deluxe rooms furnished with a double cot, television and attached bath with geyser.

Games

Play a game of chess, caroms or ludo while indoors. Or choose from the outdoor collection of shuttle, football or a game of cricket.

Sightseeing and Trekking

Most parts of Yelagiri remain pristine. With the government's latest efforts to make the place a tourist attraction, various projects are underway.

The main attraction on the hill is Punganoor Lake. Peddle out on this artificial lake or take a walk around the lake. Spend time in the garden or play in the children's park. And for the religiously inclined, Murugan temple is less than a Km away.

Yelagiri is a trekker's paradise. Of the many hills, Swamimalai is the hightest (4,338 ft). Head down the road that takes you past the lilly pond and through Mangalam Village, which is at the foot of Swamimalai. Trekkers often return thrilled from the experience and the exotic view. Before you set out be sure to ask your host to pack some snacks and water for you.

The sericulture farm run by the government is yet another spot to visit at Mangalam.

Jalagamparai Waterfalls, 24 kms from Jolarpet junction, is an ideal spot for a day's picnic. The water at the falls depends largely on Yelagiri's rainfall. So enquire first before heading off for the waterfalls.

Location

Jolarpet, the nearest railway station, has many trains passing through its junction from Bangalore, Coimbatore and Chennai. From Jolarpet, you can take a cab or get on the bus and head for Yelagiri Hills.

In case you decide to drive down from Bangalore, take the Bangalore - Chennai highway. Your route will be Hosur - Krishnagiri - Vaniyambadi circle- at the circle follow the board indicating Yelagiri. Seven kilometers from there is Ponneri, the foot of the hill. Take a left turn and climb the 14 hair pin bend ghat section. On reaching Yelagiri keep moving on the main road that passes through the market area and continues towards Mangalam Village. Just a kilometer away from the market opposite 'Don Bosco Camp Centre' is your destination.

Driving from Chennai, follow the Chennai - Bangalore highway that takes you through Sriperambadur, Vellore, Ambur, Vaniyambadi circle. At the circle follow the board pointing to Yelagiri.
