Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and Yelagiri Adventure Sports Association (YASA) jointly conducting Paragliding festival at Yelagiri Hills

'YASA' a society formed to bring Adventure Sports to Yelagiri Hills is a year young now. We are happy to state that with the wholehearted support of sports loving fraternity and well wishers, we were able to bring Adventure Sport of PARAGLIDING to Yelagiri, the popular hill station in Tamilnadu which still retains its pristine beauty, verdant landscape, beautiful mountains, breathtaking valleys, lakes, pure and cool climate throughout the year, pollution free abode away from city.

This year the Adventure Sports Festival is slated to be held on September 11, 12, 13, 2009.

In this year's itinerary, we propose to include Trekking, Biking, Rock climbing, etc., in addition to Para-Gliding. Each sport shall be managed by trained sports professionals under the aegis of YASA.

YASA is being assisted by able sports professionals in nurturing and promoting these adventure sports, alongwith Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) playing active role in promoting Yelagiri as a Tourist Destination.

YASA is the only adventure sports association in Yelagiri which strives to honour and fulfill its social commitments to the local population, and maintain the pristine beauty of Yelagiri and also strives to maintain its unique identity.

YASA solicits your continued support and active participation in the Adventure Sports Festival at Yelagiri which is emerging as one of the popular Sports Event of Tamilnadu.

YASA also solicits sports enthusiast to enroll as members of the society and to participate actively to promote Adventure Sports and Tourism in Yelagiri Hills.

GPS coordinates : take off : 12°36'0" (12.6001)N; 78°38'24" (78.6401)E - Elevation : 1111 m.
Landing : 12°36'24" (12.6068)N; 78°36'28" (78.6079)E - Elevation : 414 m.
Take off: Yelagiri launch site is 500m a.g.l & the ridge is 8 km long. Has launch sites for NW, SW & SE wind directions. Visit www.yasa.co.in, for more info.

Landing: Common designated for both NW & SW launch sites. LZ is located by the side of a large pond & very close to the Tourist park.
Going There: Yelagiri is 160 km from Bangalore & 220 km from Chennai. National Highway number 7 (NH 7) connects Yelagiri with both the cities. Nearest railway station is Jolarpet junction. Both Chennai & Bangalore have good domestic connections and International airports.
Comments: Excellent quality accomodation is available at Yelagiri... from budget to luxury.
While Govt. run YATRI NIVAS caters to the budget traveller, a host of private resorts with varying comfort levels/ tariffs can be chosen from.

Weather hazards: SW(June,July,Aug) & NE(Dec,Jan) monsoon season to be avoided.
Flight regulation: Rules set by YASA(YPC) must be followed.
